Stop Misreading the Bible: To Moses, Jethro was God

In Victor Alexander's translation of Exodus 3:14 from the ancient Aramaic, God says to Moses, "Ahiyeh Ashur hiyeh."*

*3:14 Lit. Aramaic: (1) "Ahiyeh": "the One Who Comes in His Coming," the absolute sense of "the One Who Comes."
(2) "Ashur": "the Beginning Spark that kindles the Fire" or "the Light."
(3) "Hiyeh": "His Coming."
(4) "Ahiyeh" and "hiyeh" are related forms of the same word. They mean more than "the Coming." They signify also the "Eternal Presence," "the Ever-Present," and the "Never Ceasing Intent of the Comer to Come."
(5) In the same way, "Ashur" signifies "the Uncreated Creator who Creates Everything from Nothing."
(6) Also, "Ashur" signifies: "Above-the-Flames."

I have rendered these into English about twenty or more different ways in this blog. All of my renderings until now have been God saying to Moses that He personally was becoming--through imagination--the manifestation of God's Excellence, Jethro. Ahiyeh the first person, God; hiyeh the third person, Jethro. Even the Hebrew 'ehyeh 'asher 'ehyeh I have translated as "I am that 'I am'"; i.e., God is our personal manifestation, the projection of our identity, His Excellence--Jethro.

I just realized that although Moses said, "God," he meant JETHRO. Because he had just realized himself that Jethro was God. It was Jethro who as God--Moses' inner consciousness--spoke to Moses saying, "Ahiyeh Ashur hiyeh." Hiyeh's third person reference was to GOD THE FATHER: Says Jethro: "I AM GOD THE FATHER. My becoming is His becoming."

Let me help you out:
The first book in the Bible is Exodus. It starts with Moses. The Book of Genesis is its prequel; i.e., how we got a Moses (Moses is the germ of the Gospel in us).
Jacob was Moses' inner man. Reuben's real name was Reu-Eil, "God-looked-upon," a nature of Moses due to his obedience (see Alexander's note Genesis 32:18). "The kingdom of God has to do with attitudes." This is why Reu-Eil was the first of Jacob into Egypt and also Moses' king-priest of the Medians. MOSES IS SIMPLY TELLING US HOW HE BECAME A MYSTIC.
Any bible commentator will tell you that Reu-Eil, the blessing of God-looked-upon, is also Jethro, God's Excellence.
Moses, in meditation bringing sacrificial sheep--thoughts--to Jethro, God's Excellence, saw that this excellence was EVERY life form. From the Life-giver Itself, Ashur (the Son working in the Source solar disc), Life tracked THROUGH every living being Its process of reaching Its destiny (individualized flames of Glory)--a bush-like arrangement that would never end. Moses saw that he was a life form bearing God Almighty as Jethro.
Then Jethro, God's excellence in Moses, SPOKE to Moses, "I (Jethro) become Ashur (see above) His (God Almighty's) becoming."

Raise Social Distancing to an Art Form — No Germs From or To Anyone or Anything

Wherever you are, whatever you do, protect yourself from getting any germs and from contributing any germs to anyone else. Covid-19 is an active shooter. Engage protection like a war, like a firefight (that's where guys are shooting at each other). You are the firewall. #1: Do everything you can to keep from getting the virus. You want to hit the germs as much as possible without getting hit yourself. Think in terms of 100%. One interesting byproduct of this new way of living might be the elimination of influenza and the common cold, or at least lowering their rates of incidence.

Doctor: ‘Don’t loiter’ at grocery stores amid outbreak

Edit added 4/8/20: My son shared a report of an infant who caught Covid-19 supposedly from groceries brought into the home; its father is now kicking himself. I said he's kicking himself for not practicing overkill in separating outside packaging and cleaning everything. My wife said that's basic hygiene. OVERKILL IS THE NEW "BASIC"!!

Moses is Reuel; Jethro is God: Clarifying Some Things of Exodus Three, the Beginning of the Bible

Dear Reader,

I am going through old blog post drafts I have never published. Maybe their ideas I have expressed in other posts (you might recognize the repetition), or I could never get the composition "up to snuff." Some are just left over material. I usually try to cram too much into a post, and give up trying to order the mess. So I am posting their better bits and pieces. Trusting God to order them. In this one I deal with the misreading and misunderstanding of Who Jethro is. I think I did not publish it because I realized that I still had not got to Who Jethro is. So this is halfway into a transition. See "An Explanation of the Burning Bush, Exodus 3:14," Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

In Victor Alexander's translation of Exodus from the ancient Aramaic, there is an asterisk on the name 'Jethro' in verse 3:1. I desperately want to know what Jethro meant in ancient Aramaic, but there is no corresponding definition or discussion in the footnote section. I guess Vic forgot to go back to it. Today, though, I finally understood Jethro and that I have for ages misread the beginning chapters of Exodus, which book is the foundation and beginning of the whole Bible. I thought (from Alexander) that God said in 3:14, "I come -- Ashur -- his coming." In this, "his coming" would be Jethro's (His Excellence's coming). I now realize it might actually be the opposite order: that it was JETHRO (!) who in Moses' mind said, "I come -- Ashur -- His coming," with "His" referring to God's coming.

"Dan," you might say, "that is plum loco. Everybody and his brother knows that it was God who spoke to Moses. It says it right there: 'And God said to Moses.' It weren't Jethro sayin' nuthin to Moses at all. You're crazy and all mixed up, 'n' ya better repent right now."

Hold your horses, chief. I did think to look at the beginning of Exodus again. I wondered if that asterisk on Jethro referred back to Reuel in Exodus 2:18, for they are apparently the same character. 'Reuel,' according to my Cornwall and Smith Exhaustive Dictionary of Bible Names means, 'the friend of God'. Anyway, I opened Alexander's Exodus to the beginning, and accidentally noticed that the first name in the list of the sons of Jacob (Chapter 1) was Reuel.

Huh? What? Wait. What? I ain't no rube; I know the first son of Jacob was Reuben. So I grabbed my volume of Alexander's Genesis to look up Reuben, and it opened DIRECTLY to the footnote for Genesis 29:32, "Lit. Aramaic: 'Reu-Eil,' or 'God-looked-upon.' Reu-Eil was the Aramaic name for Jacob's first son Reuben. (Opening directly to that footnote was weird, but the page is almost exactly in the middle of the book -- page 112 out of 215). Reu-Eil was not "a friend of God." He is the blessed, God-looking-upon God's Excellence, His "Son" His IMAGINATION. He, the Milta, is looked upon because of his mother's OBEDIENCE.

I read Exodus as the first book of the Bible, with Genesis being its prequel. Jacob was MOSES' inner man. Reu-Eil was a quality of MOSES' inner man, God's interest in his OBEDIENCE which was "king-priest of the Medians." Now, all commentators will tell you that Reuel was Jethro, and that the angel of God was actually God. What they miss is that Jacob was Moses' inner man; that Reu-Eil was a quality of Jacob, Moses' attitude; and that Jethro, the excellence of God in Moses, was the "angel"who spoke to Moses. It turns out that THE WHOLE KIT AND CABOODLE OF THEM WERE MOSES.

Dadgumit, folks, Moses here was just trying to tell us how he happened to become a mystic. He found that the kingdom of God, the power of the Ineffable's imagination's action among us, YHWH, was 'God.' The kingdom is the Ineffable. IT. IS. ALL. ONE. It is all Moses there in the Bible, and Moses is YOU!!

My last shot at saying it clearly: God's Excellence, "Jethro," says, "My absolute intent to become is the Beginning Spark who kindles the fire of the Ineffable's becoming."

An Explanation of the Burning Bush, Exodus 3:14

So my bible walks up and opens itself to Exodus chapter three and says, "Eh, you wanna look at Exodus 3:14 again?"

Says I, "Nah, I'm already working on the Burning Bush being a euphemism or metaphor for Mystical Calvinism. Moses looked at how our lives recur, branching out time and time again in new tracks of experience, challenge, and development from our one childhood. We have many lives which each at their culmination begin a new branch from same childhood. Isn't that wild? Because they are all imagination, one on top of the other, even though they are sequential in development, they are all lived simultaneously in time. This idea is quite enough for me to be working on and thinking through right now."

"Just thought maybe you'd like to look at what the Bible says," says my bible.

"Hmm," thinks I. "Neville did talk about being restored as a twenty-year-old in the same life after we 'die,' but he also talked about the possibility of being restored to a life in the year one thousand, two thousand, or three thousand; or maybe on some other sphere. Maybe Moses saw the branches branching out from a deeper trunk than just our childhood."

"Jethro," said my bible.

"Ah! Right. Moses was investigating God's excellence. Oh! That's what you mean by reading what the Bible SAYS. Hiyeh isn't God's excellence; it is God ITSELF!! THAT's the message in Exodus 3:14: 'My becoming -- the Creative Imagining of the Ineffable -- is HIS becoming.' Oh, Goodness. ALL the branches of imagination ... ARE GOD."

I had misread the Aramaic Ahiyeh Ashur hiyeh of Exodus 3:14 (Alexander) to mean God (Ahiyeh - "I come") becoming Jethro, His Excellence (hiyeh - "his coming"). What the Bible actually SAYS is that Jethro, His Excellence's becoming, is God's becoming. I had reversed the pronoun references.

There is all the difference in the world in that! God the Father, which is the consciousness of the Ineffable, is individualizing Itself (Neville, 1963, "Where Are You"). Each individualization is a branch of GOD. You could look at it as His Excellence (speaking as the Angel of God) identifying with life-bearing planets or their individual persons or the persons' individual tracks of spiritual development -- it's all God, the Father. I.e., His action, YHWH, is HIM. "I have said, 'You ... are God! (Elohim)'" (Psalm 82:6). It is loud and clear in Exodus 3:14. He wasn't kidding!! Moses saw "Jethro" as Life's outworking to Its destiny in all dimensions -- the "Bush" which couldn't be consumed.

"Yep! Thank you very much," says my bible.

"Thank YOU!" says I.

We Are Become Individuals To Demonstrate Relationships Of Qualities Within The Field Of The Ineffable

These qualities of the Consciousness include the ignorance inherent in the imagining elements, among which we are at birth. The relationship of the ignorance within the whole of the field is such that the individual manifestation of ignorance can be cast out -- utterly rejected, as that is what is happening in this illustrative experience we are in. I.e., the ignorance within the field is being overcome and eliminated through the development of the imagining elements. All of this is happening within the One, the Ineffable who has ever been everything.

Abraham Meditation in the Bible

Adam, man, is a bit of God's consciousness. Eve is its creative, life-giving power. Abram is God's consciousness in man. Abram, God's consciousness, is told (Genesis 12) to get out of Dodge -- away from its land, from where it was born, away from its Father's house. This is meditation, no?

"And I shall make you a great nation, and I shall bless you and I shall make great your name and a blessing. And I shall bless those who bless you, and accurse those who curse you, and I shall bless all the generations of the earth through you and your offspring" (Genesis 12:2-3 Alexander).

If this is Godly meditation, thoughts (v. 8, Abram "called on the name of the Lord"), it sounds pretty good.

Abram had some learning to do to get into the right meditation. He had interference from the flesh, "Egypt." Finally, though, he got it right. God manifested in his meditation, and Abram became AbraHam, "the Merciful Father." WITH THIS, Sarai, Abram's barren life experience, became SaraH, young again to bear AbraHam fruit, LAUGHTER, "Isaac." Isaac gave 100-fold increase.

This pattern is repeated in Mark 5:21-43, in the story of Jairus' daughter and the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment. In meditation, we are Jairus. We get it right, and Jesus manifests. Our impotent, unfruitful lives bleeding in the Temple (read mind) get addressed and blessed as a young woman ready to bear her hundredfold.

Church: Something China Did Not Have To Stand Against Covid-19

We as the Church can stand in praise of God in GRATITUDE for what we have. We have a lot: we have much, ever so much to be thankful for. The mind, emotion, and feeling we have IN giving thanks is the forthcoming reality we want to create. Go hog wild, "all Pentecostally," in expressing that mind, emotion, and feeling. Let it bubble over. Giggle. LAUGH!! Be exuberant, excited, and joyful. Glorify, love, and praise God in your heart with a mind full of GRATITUDE. Repeatedly, constantly, think thankfulness. For OUR GOD, THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE INEFFABLE, REIGNS!!

Heading For Healing 21: Gratitude, Joy, Adoration

Imagine being completely and utterly rejected by God, then finding a way to repentance and submission, and ultimately receiving acceptance by God. When I sensed my acceptance, I felt a gratitude I couldn't express. I wanted to reach out from the innermost depths of my heart, to pour forth thanks unto God for His grace and mercy. Joy was welling up — how I adored God! Praise became a tangible emotion I could not express with the paltry words I knew. God by His grace had forgiven me and had accepted me. The sensation of joy and appreciation, gratitude and love and praise entered tangibility within my bowels and rose up like a living water about to spill out of my throat and mouth. That inflowing, upflowing Life energized and took control of my mouth, and without one once of control exercised by me, began to proclaim the Lord in a language I did not know (but I surely did know that my heart was loving and praising Him).

Before that event I was living in my pickup truck on Oahu (I didn't know that was illegal when I shipped my truck there). Not a bum or homeless, just hippie-ish. Six months after, I was attending the seventh largest and fastest growing seminary in the United States, Melodyland School of Theology, with ZERO qualifications to do so aside from breathing and having V. A. benefits. There is a very real miracle in being sent. One of my very dear friends at Melodyland got tuberculosis. I know she did, because she gave it to me. She had a like experience to mine above, and as she was mentally before the throne of God, the Voice said to her, "You are healed." Back to the doctor for another chest x-ray. Yeah, she was.

You want healing? Try GRATITUDE for what you have. Reach deep to the recognition of His giving you ... you, and everything you have. Feel the joy. Let praise be as your breath. FEEL GRATEFUL DEEPLY, REALLY FILLED WITH THANKS, AND DON'T LET GO. This, then, is what you are creating.

Here are some videos on the idea. I think I will be able to add to the list soon. But don't wait.

No Neville on Purim, but Bullinger Appendix 60 is All About It

Hi Dan,

Purim was last week and it evolves around the book of Esther. Some rabbis say that Esther comes from Seter which is to hide hence the tradition associated with wearing costumes or masks to show that God acts behind the scenes. The word God is not mentioned in the book btw.

Couldn't find any Neville Goddard interpretation. Can you please shed some light on the book of Esther?

Thanks,
Kat
_______________________________

Kat,

Yes, I couldn't find anything by Neville about Purim, Esther, Mordecai, or Haman, either.
https://michaelsoaries.com/high-mysticism/ (search [control f] for Haman) has something about the number five and sardonyx stone.

Found a great treasure: The Complete Bible in Modern English Esther is on page 226. Ends with: 1 Note. —Purim, "Arrow," from the Persian, Pur, an arrow. —F. F.

"The word 'God' is not mentioned in the book?" Say what? Kat, you DO have The Companion Bible, don't you? I am pretty sure you know about the acrostics. It is one kind of insanity to not have Victor Alexander's translations from the ancient Aramaic, but I can understand it because he's got their prices sky high (I am working on getting him to lower them). To not have The Companion Bible is inexcusable for anyone who is trying to understand the Scriptures, because it can gotten for about twenty bucks at a used book store. And it is online. Bullinger devotes two whole pages to THE NAME OF JEHOVAH IN THE BOOK OF ESTHER. Here's another one: THE NAME OF JEHOVAH IN THE BOOK OF ESTHER. And, THE NAME OF JEHOVAH IN THE BOOK OF ESTHER.

I think Bullinger says it clear enough in the last two or three paragraphs of Appendix 60. God is hidden by our ignorance, but is ruling over all anyway. Something of a hidden but powerful Arrow. Sorry, Kat. To explain all or any of the other symbolism in the book is beyond me.

Thanking Joe Vitale for Reminding Me of How I Slipped Into the Trance That Led to the Baptism in the Holy Spirit

I saw a YouTube suggestion saying, "This is why visualizing isn't working." In the video, Dr. Joe Vitale said that the Law operates in the unconscious mind, not the conscious mind, and that we ought ask help from the unconscious mind. "Oh, yeah!" I thought to myself. "THAT's how I entered the trance that got me to the baptism in the Holy Spirit." I had asked God, the unconscious mind, to help me.

Asking for the gift of tongues in Hawaii in 1975, I found myself utterly rejected by God, and sobbing sought how I might become acceptable to Him. When I had “accepted” Jesus Christ a few weeks earlier, it was an intellectual, rational exercise. Before that, I had seen the spiritual realm in an occult meditation. I discovered that the biblical worldview accurately corresponds to reality, rather than the secular or spiritualist worldviews. I went forward at the House of Praise feeling it right and good to recognize the truth of the Bible. The guy next to me bawled like a baby. Now in prayer and finding myself rejected, I was in an “encounter” like that guy had been, man-to-man with God, our unconscious, and He was playing hardball (our link to God is God!). A novice, I was trying to find out the game.

Outcast, I wondered for a moment if I should just hang it up (the prayer I was in) and go search for why I was a pariah and what I could do about it. THIS IS THE THING: I decided to stay and stick with the encounter I sensed I was in. I had God on the line. I felt an almost tangible presence. His rejection was active and personal. To whom else could I go, who could tell me exactly why I was rejected and reveal to me how I might find acceptance? In desperation, I ASKED GOD, OUR UNCONSCIOUS, TO HELP ME, TO SHOW ME. And He did. My mind’s eye went off into a trance of explanation and revelation which culminated in my repentance, acceptance by God, and my receiving His Holy Spirit with the gift of tongues. I am glad I stuck with it.

The words, "To whom else could I go?" struck a bell with me. I looked up John 6:68, where those words occur. Oh. John chapter 6 is the answer as to why it worked: "Simon the Rock* (Peter) replied and said, 'My Lord, to whom shall we go? You hold the words to eternal life!'* (Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: 'The words of Lives to [the end of] the universe you have!'"). In my recognizing that God was there, and in my trying to give myself to God, I was trying to do the work. "They said to him, 'What shall one do to do God's Work?' Jesus replied, telling them, 'You do God's work as you believe in whom he sends'" (John 6:28-29 ). This was where I had tripped up. I had believed ABOUT Jesus. That's water. I hadn't believed HIM. That's blood. The work of God is to believe in whom He has sent. That is our unconscious subconscious, the spirit of God who is making us alive.

I cast the self-lordship of my conscious mind out of myself and fully submitted to God's direction. In my mind's eye I sensed God’s glory spreading over (above) me. That and our subconscious, our “unconscious,” are one. And we, submitted, believing in whom He sends, are one with them. Receive the quickening of the Holy Spirit.

I hope this portion of Vic Alexander's translation of John chapter 6 is enlightening:

27. "Do not work for the food that perishes, except [for] the food that [destines] you for eternal Life* (Lit. Ar. idiomatic expression: ...that fastens [you] to Lives [to the end] of the universe). The hand of the Son of Man will give [it to] you. For [upon] this has the Father placed the seal of God.
28. They said to him, "What shall one do to do God's Work?
29. Jesus replied, telling them, "You do God's work as you believe in whom he sends.
32. Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I am telling you, it was not Moses who gave you bread from heaven, except it was my Father who gave you the bread of blessing from heaven.
33. "For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives Life to the universe* (people).
35. Jesus told them, "I am the bread of Life. Whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall not thirst to the end of the universe.
36. "Except I told you that you saw me and you did not believe.
37. "Whoever my Father gives me, shall come to me; and whoever comes to me, shall not remain outside* (behind).
38. "That I came down from heaven, not for my own satisfaction, except for the satisfaction of whom sent me.
39. "This is the desire* (satisfaction) of the one who sent me, that no one whom He gives me shall be lost* (Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: that every [one or thing] that He gives me does not [go to] oblivion from Him), except [that] I shall raise them in the last day.
40. "For this is the desire* (satisfaction) of my Father, that whoever sees the Son and believes in him, shall have Life everlasting* (Lit. Ar. idiomatic expression: lives to [the end of] the universe), and [that] I shall raise them on the last day.
44. "No human [being] can come to me, except if the Father ransoms* (saves) them, and [thus] I shall raise them on the last day.
45. "For the prophet wrote that, 'They shall all be taught by God.' Whoever thus hears from the Father and learns from Him, shall come to me.
46. "It is not that a human [being] has seen the Father, except the one who has come from God, he was the one who sees the Father.
47. "Amen, amen, I am telling you, that whoever believes in me has Life to [the end of] the universe.
48. "I am the bread of Life!
49. "Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness and died.
50. "For this is the bread that comes down from heaven, that a human [being] eats and does not die!
51. "I am the living bread that came down from heaven. And if a human [being] eats of this bread, [they] shall live to [the end of] the universe. But the bread that I offer is my body, that on behalf of the lives of all the people I give* (Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: 'my body that over the faces of the lives of the universe I give,' meaning: 'for all.').
53. And Jesus told them, "Amen, amen, I am telling you that if you do not eat the body of the Son of Man, and drink his blood, you cannot [receive] the [triune] essences* (Q'numeh) of a Living [human being.]
54. "Whoever eats of my body and drinks of my blood, shall receive Life to [the end of] the universe, and I will [surely] raise them on the last day.
55. "For my body truly becomes food and my blood truly becomes drinkable.
56. "Whoever eats my body and drinks my blood, is strengthened* (hardened, or fortified) in me and I in them.
57. "Whoever the Living Father has sent me, and I am alive because of the Father, and whoever eats of me, they also Live [eternally] because of me.
58. "This is the bread that comes down from heaven. It is not like the manna that your ancestors ate and died. Whoever eats of this bread lives to [the end of] the universe.
61. ... "Did this confuse* (whip) you?
62. "Then [what will you think] if you see the Son of Man ascend to the state that he possessed of old?
63. "It is the Spirit that gives Life. The flesh does nothing. The words that I speak with you are of the Spirit and the Life.
64. "But there are those* (human [beings]) among you that do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning* (old) who were the ones who did not believe, and who was to betray* (deliver) him.
65. And he told them, "Because of this I told you that no one* (human [being]) comes to me, if it were not given* (given in the sense of a gift or a blessing) to him by my Father.
67. And Jesus said to his twelve, "What [now,] are you also thinking of leaving"* ((For) what, also you are satisfied (you) for going [away])?
68. Simon the Rock* (Peter) replied and said, "My Lord, to whom shall we go? You hold the words to eternal life* (Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: the words of Lives to [the end of] the universe you have)!
69. "And we have believed and understand that you [are] the Anointed One, Son of the Living God!"

Realizing Your Potential: Are You Accepted?

The present covid-19 pandemic has seen investments tank. I'm like, "So what? They go up. They go down. They go up. No reason to panic."

"Of course people panic," I am scolded. "Investments are real. When an investment goes down, people have lost real money. It is real loss."

"It is not real until you sell your investment," I counter. My reasoning is that an investment is a potential. It is quite literally a bet. Its momentary value is a fantasy. It is a real value, but you cannot do anything with it until you sell. You can't get a cup of coffee at Starbucks on stock values. You can have all the tea in China loaded onto your fleet of ships -- that's real value in potential -- but if the fleet sinks, you ain't got squat. UNLESS you have the potential of intelligence to do it all again.

God is a conscious energy which fills the universe. It can do anything -- energy guided by consciousness. We are born with a sunken fleet, on the "can you do it again?" beat. Yes, I am not kidding, and I do not think I am exaggerating. We were God and became this, a potential of the conscious energy to surpass the godhood we had. Why the heck do you think Neville was all the time studying the Bible? "Got to meet the potential!" he'd proclaim.

The energy is going its way. It is going to fulfill its potential. Our getting there depends upon our going with the energy the way it is going to meet its potential. That is not the way we naturally live, not what we naturally do. How that conscious energy thinks is illustrated and interpreted for us by the Scriptures and the Manifestation of the Milta, Jesus Christ. I THOUGHT I was given to God and was thinking right, but I was not. I had not been accepted by God as thinking like he's thinking. My square peg would not go into the round hole.

I SOUGHT how to become accepted. Found submission and acceptance in the un-ing of myself as God led me to it. Only by Him could I do it. He's the potential of intelligence to do it again.

Neville Goddard's Live This Death Again Until Branches Resolve: How Will You Be Remembered?

Neville had a novel and unique understanding of life and death. I did not understand it, and was corrected here. FYI, I thought Neville had said that after we die, we come back awakening as "twenty-somethings" living a new life. I rejected the idea, as everyone is born as an infant and we do not have twenty-year-olds popping into existence. "No, no, no," I was corrected. When we "die," we go back to an earlier time in this same life and branch off onto a different track than we had taken last time. The old track is forgotten, but the childhood remains.

Neville discussed two men in Barbados. He knew them in the natural as elderly gentlemen. They had certain interests, opinions, etc.. They died. Neville met them again in their subsequent branch-off lives where he noted they still had the same interests and opinions they had previously. Just now they were taking off on their new lives as twenty-somethings with those established personalities instead of developing them anew. Apparently, as consciousness we do this over and over and over again, forgetting what is behind and pressing on to the upward calling. Logically, we are living them all simultaneously and not sequentially, which is super mind-blowing (the stars are progressing at a million miles per hour, no joking, so our lives are fixed to their progression in a lifetime).

Each branch of life is forgotten, but its development is incorporated as we break out in a new branch from our previous history. We live again from the past of the same life, until we graduate awakened aware of our godhood. The wicked do, too. Their branches challenge our branches. It would appear that we live all the links of the chain of our potential at once, ends joining beginnings at the onset of the branches. "Dat's gotta be 'magination!" Amen.

How will this branch be remembered? Its end will begin what? Neville in one experience was with, I believe, his sister-in-law and his secretary, Jack. Neville's sister-in-law did not accept his understanding of life and death. Jack had died, and was present as a "twenty-something." Neville pointed out the fact that Jack was there. "So?" she replied. "Don't you remember? Jack died. I buried him." Jack scoffed. "Who died? That's funny. I died, but I'm not dead!" His sister-in-law remembered that Jack had died, and that Neville had presided at his funeral. And yet there he was. "Oh." She'd carry this new opinion with her into her next branch, moving closer to awakening. Jack? He'll get there, too.

We are living conscious of a potential. Probably living a lot of them we are not conscious of. This is the one we are conscious of right now. It is an opportunity. The Jew we call Jesus turned hard into the practice of prayer, faith, and the perspective of oneness in that life. Pressed himself toward graduation from his LAST branch. His name Eashoa in Aramaic means Life-giving Living Branch. He received the Holy Spirit. And he lived it to the end.

God is the Doer of the Verb

Bullinger, The Companion Bible, note on the name Israel, Genesis 32:28, page 47.

Edit:

Verse 27
What is thy name? Figure of speech Anthropopatheia. For He knew his name.

Verse 28
Jacob = contender (Genesis 25:22). Used of the natural Jacob and his natural seed. Israel used for spiritual Jacob and his spiritual seed.

Israel = "God commands, orders or rules". Man attempts it but always, in the end, fails. Out of some forty Hebrew names compounded with "El" or "Jah", God is always the doer of what the verb means (compare Dani-el, God judges).

prince = commander, orderer. Here used not to dignify but to reproach. Compare Genesis 12:15, princes (courtiers); Genesis 26:26, chief of soldiers; Genesis 39:1, officer; Genesis 40:2, chief; Genesis 40:3, jailor; Genesis 47:6, herdsmen; Exodus 1:11, taskmasters, &c.

hast thou power = hast thou contended. Jacob had contended with Esau in the womb, and thus got his name Jacob, which is referred to here in reproach, not in eulogy.

prevailed = succeeded. He had contended for the birthright and succeeded (Genesis 25:29-34). He had contended for the blessing and succeeded (27). He had contended with Laban and succeeded (31). He had contended with "men" and succeeded. Now he contends with God and fails. Hence his name was changed to Isra-el, God commands, to teach him the greatly needed lesson of dependence upon God.

Israel’s Recapitulation

What Victor N. Alexander called the Season of Grace was a recapitulation of a) the Beginning, the Son of God in Genesis 1:1, and b) the history of man (which is not apart from the Son of God). The whole period was anointed, "Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus" (Isaiah 45:1 KJV), but especially the 70 7's of years of Daniel. That exemplary period began with the going forth of the commandment to "the emergence of the Manifestation," who were to return and rebuild Jerusalem. He, the Son of God recapitulating IN the Manifestation, the remnant of Jews, would return and "rebuild Jerusalem, its streets and gateways, to the end of the season."

That should look like Genesis chapter 1 to you. Cyrus is playing the role of God saying all the creative sayings in Genesis 1. The people are the Milta, who go out to do what is commanded. Cool so far. Those holy brethren over time degenerate to the point where they, cast out of the Garden, kill YHWH, the Son of God, Who sent them from and of Him! This dichotomy contrasts the central core intent of God with man, who we are. Shown God's righteousness and ours BY GOD, we, like Job, abhor ourselves and in dust and ashes humbly repent in the deepest way. "Remember this, and it is all right."

The project I propose to each reader is to look back to the core intent in each generation. The catholics started out well, but degenerated. Look back at the good starting. The church Jesus left started out well, but degenerated. Look back at the good starting. The Remnant started out well, Moses started out well, Abraham started out well, Noah started out well, Adam started out well, Creation started out well, God started out well. What screwed everything up? Ignorance.

What does ignorance look like? Listen to the prophecy of Neville's "Unless I Go Away." We were sunflowers in the huge field. We bowed, we smiled, we frowned in unison to the impetus of the Ineffable's will. Like slaves. Now like Neville, we are cut loose, but have become like rats in a dump. Prideful and selfish, "I want it my way!" We started out well in the Beginning, not as slaves, but as the manifestation of the Most High. What has He got for us to do? Doing it? Time to abhor our rebellion and repent, suspend our lives until what He says becomes apparent. He is that core intent of our beginning. Look back.

From Daniel 9 (Alexander):
25. "And you shall know and understand, from the emergence of the Manifestation, who shall return and rebuild Jerusalem, and the coming of the Messiah King, seventy sevens and seventy sixties and two; he shall return and rebuild Jerusalem, its streets and gateways, to the end of the season.

26. "And after the seventy sixties and two, the Messiah shall be killed, and [Jerusalem] shall not have him, and the holy city shall be devastated, together with the next king* (the coming king), and its end shall be evacuation, and until the end of the war there shall be killing and desolation* (the cuttings of desolation).

27. "And the Covenant shall be deepened for many, [a period of] seven and half [the period] of seven, sacrifices and offerings shall cease to be performed* (cancelled), and over the wings of evil* (filth) there shall follow the desolation* (throes, or destruction) until the killings shall cease* (develop) and [the dead shall] rest* (cover) upon the desolation.*

Alexander's note on Daniel 9:27.6 [Verses 22-27]: The vision explained by Gabriel to Daniel accounts for every point of the prophesy regarding the coming of the Messiah Eashoa and His Mission. There is even the prophesy regarding New Jerusalem (mentioned in the New Testament in the Book of Revelation).

Mad Mysticism and What the Scriptures Actually Say: Was the Beginning Job's Ransom and Moses' Jethro?

I had an exciting and enlightening reread of my old MST term paper, "Irenaeus' Recapitulation." I originally read the doctrine as Jesus' reversal of the effects of Adam's fall. In a sense that reversal is true. In the Season of Grace, both the oneness faith and the dualistic doubt of the Beginning (the one in Genesis 1:1) were recapitulated. Displayed and demonstrated. Interpreted and illustrated. We were born into ignorance and death. And there is the Light which enlightens every man coming into the world OFFERED TO OUR CHOICE. The doctrine says, "Yes, go ahead and take it. It is free -- reversal of all that is loopy in your world!" But it isn't the reversal of Adam's life in you; it is the ALTERNATIVE to it. Adam's life is an ignorance track. The alternative is the divine Life it came from, tracked back to the Ineffable Itself.

If you are not familiar with Genesis 1:1 read from a mystical point of view, read David A. Cooper's God is a Verb page 66. Of course you have it: you are absolutely NUTS if you don't. The kabbalists' "With a beginning, [the Ineffable] created God ..." agrees with the Aramaic "As the Beginning, the Son of God creates...". The Beginning was not a point in time, but Deity imagining the END. The end AFTER ignorance is done away with. It was the Beginning which was, and is, recapitulated.

Bullinger also noted the "end" of the Lord, that we get to the place where we completely abandon the darkness of this death and truly submit to the Life in God which has been consistent throughout history:

Then answered Job, and to YHWH said,
"I know, I know, that Thou canst all things do:
No purpose of Thine can be withstood.
Thou asketh, 'Who is this that counsel hides,
And darkens all, because of knowledge void?"
'Tis I! I uttered things I could not know;
Things far too wonderful, beyond my ken.
Hear now, I pray thee: let me speak this once.
Thou saidest, "'Tis I who ask thee: Answer Me."
I heard of Thee by hearing of the ear,
But now mine eye hath seen Thee.
I abhor myself. In dust and ashes I repent (Job 42:1-6 Bullinger).

Job may be one of the oldest books in the Bible. The story is ancient. Chapter 33 is especially interesting. Elihu is goading Job to admit he (Job) is what is screwed up, and he says so eloquently in verses 23 and 24:
Then, then, He speaks with him by Messenger
Who can interpret; One, 'mong thousands chief,
Who will reveal to man HIS righteousness.
Then He doth show him grace [Divine, and saith]:
"Deliver him from going down to death;
 A Ransom I have found—Redemption's price."

A Ransom in the Messenger's interpretation/recapitulation? Who could it be now? The Son of God, the Light, who was the Beginning. The dying, seeing HIS righteousness, repents and in humility puts faith in Him, and waxes strong. The reversal is in choosing the Alternative.

Perhaps Moses heard this story and perceived the Messenger as God's Excellence: "Jethro." Seeking this Excellence, the Messenger shows up!! Who are you? "Ahiyeh Ashur hiyeh," "The Becoming One, the Creative Imagination of the Ineffable, Who Becomes Your Salvation" (Exodus 3:14, a take on Alexander's notes).

When I read Daniel 9's description of the seventy sevens, I see that there was no reversal; the Season of Grace was a straightforward, one-for-one recapitulation of the Beginning centered on Jesus Christ. It might be more accurate to call Christ’s crucifixion an iteration of the Beginning, not reversing it, but re-presenting it. An interpretation of the FACT. The Season of Grace was a portrait, a picture illustrating and interpreting the Beginning, the Son of God, throughout history to us. Alternatives: Light and Life, or Darkness and Death. Doesn't sound like a hard choice to make to me.

"Wait. Wait. Dan, you don't even believe that the characters of scripture were historical people who had personal histories, that 'Jesus Christ' was a construct of Gautama Buddha and refined ancient Judaism. What is one to choose?"

I believe there was a Jew in the end of the Season of Grace who fulfilled God's plan. I believe the "Jesus" part was the Anointing of Conscious Awareness of Oneness upon him, making him (them together) christ as an ACTION, as it does us. What do we choose? The Field of Consciousness Gregg Braden (watch any of his videos) refers to as the Divine Matrix. The pure, divine Intelligence of the Most High and Ineffable (...?). Gregg Braden’s field, the Divine Matrix, is the consciousness of a Person. No, there is no name for It. The Source of Everything Who is working BY Its Consciousness Its Manifestation ... OF WHICH WE ARE. The Field, alas, and our experience in It, are all we will ever know of the Ineffable. It has not even yet entered the mind of man what those experiences shall be!!

"Eye does not see and ear does not hear, and over the heart does not rise the thing God graced to those who mercy Him" (1 Corinthians 2:9 Alexander note).

Mercy Him, by believing.

For Students of Theology: Irenaeus’ Recapitulation

Maria encouraged me to post "Irenaeus' Recapitulation," a term paper I wrote at Melodyland School of Theology (MST) back in 1976. I finally climbed up to the shelf in the garage and dug it out of my box of class papers and notes. Reading it again, I marvel how everything Irenaeus said about recapitulation is still spot-on with everything I now believe, forty-three years later, even though I understand everything differently.

Except for one thing. I wonder now if I misunderstood Irenaeus, if Irenaeus misunderstood the Scriptures, or if I misunderstand the what they meant. The basic premise of recapitulation as I understood Irenaeus's thought was that Christ's recap of Adam's life REVERSED the effects of Adam's fall. I now am not sure that either the Scriptures or Irenaeus ever meant Christ's life to be a subsequent, sequential "in-line" recapitulation of Adam's life. Could it be that the two poles of Christ's being YHWH and the Jews being Adam's ignorance are simply being contrasted? That the whole of the Season of Grace itself was the recapitulation of the Beginning? I think that was what was going on, whether Irenaeus ever got it or not.

Recapitulation is a very basic Christian doctrine very few Christians have ever heard of, though they count on it heavily. The verb 'recapitulate' simply means "to say again in brief." A recapitulation is "an act or instance of summarizing and restating the main points of something" (Google.com). Note that recapitulation is a REPETITION, not a CHANGE. Change is not an expected effect. In my research of Irenaeus' doctrine of recapitulation, I understood Irenaeus to have believed that the results of Christ's life reversed the results of Adam's life, thus I wrote as recapitulation's definition: "Recapitulation is a repeat of what has happened before but with the reversal of the result." That was what I saw and how I understood it. What I see now in scripture are two different foci that were recapitulated in the Season of Grace whose constants were being contrasted: YHWH as the Beginning/Jesus verses Adam's fall/man's rejection of Jesus.

Of course I am aware of substitution. But was it substitution of Jesus for Adam, or substitution of Life for Ignorance? What was the Beginning is the question to look at. I believe it was the Imagination of the Ineffable, the Consciousness which is our eternal God, which in humble contriteness to the Ineffable laid itself down to dream the dream of BEING the Ignorance, so becoming us ... to save us.

Below is my paper. Please note that the professor had limited us to three, maybe three and a half pages max length, double spaced. I tried to fit in everything of the doctrine:

Irenaeus' Recapitulation

November 18, 1976
Church History I

Recapitulation is a repeat of what has happened before but with the reversal of the result. The basic idea was drawn from 1 Corinthians 15:45-49 and Romans 5:17-19. (Footnote: Irenaeus took the idea from Paul, not Justin's typology.)

For as by one man's disobedience
many were made sinners,
so by the obedience of the one
shall many be made righteous.
Romans 5:19

By recapitulation there is restoration of what was lost as a result of the prior events; i.e., there is a new start. The prior happenings in this case were Creation, Adam's life, and the mess it resulted in.

For Irenaeus, creation was the beginning of a potential. Adam was created "as a child" with the potential of growing and maturing into (as unto) the Image of God, which is the Son of God. The Image was not what man was, but rather the direction man was to develop. The idea of growth is important.

Being created, man existed later than God and was inferior to Him, i.e., immature. (Footnote: Well handled by Dr. Brown in "The Necessity of the Imperfection of Creation.") To be drawn up to the stature of the Image, Adam was to follow a plan of development set up by and achieved by God. Adam was not to do the achieving. He was to b guided through it and be shaped by the Holy Spirit, the Hand of God. (Footnote: Irenaeus was indefinite about the Trinity.) But his immaturity made him susceptible to Satan's temptation, which was that he accelerate God's program. Succumbing to Satan's greater maturity, Adam rejected God's plan and enjoined the opposition's plan. God honored man's decision. Adam was alienated from the Image and was made subject to Sin and Death, a life of transgression and apostasy. His growth was interrupted.

God had set His will. The Fall hindered its fulfillment, but God maintained His single plan, in love, in spite of the Fall. The plan manifests in several progressive steps identified by covenants and eras: Adam, Noah, Moses, and Christ in particular. (Footnote: Also Abraham, the prophets, and second advent.) Each represents a step of growth. Each new one ends the last, incorporates what progress has been made, and reveals a new step, all the while maintaining a promise of future restoration. The progress is slow because of man's fallen condition, yet each new revelation is a declaration of man's progress.

Christ's coming in the flesh was the fulfillment of the promise, the event all history had been pointing to. The incarnation was the real death blow to Satan. Adam had been created and weak. Now the uncreated mighty Son of God was joined with creation. Satan could get by without afflicting a docetic god, but the body of flesh meant a claim to his domain. The only way to maintain his lordship was to turn Jesus aside from God's plan even as he had turned Adam. This is what recapitulation is all about: he couldn't. Satan lost his claim. By the Son of God becoming man, He made it possible for men to become the sons of God.

To establish His claim and win our freedom, Christ had to live a human life (fully so) retracing the history of man (footnote: "Summing up in Himself the whole human race from beginning to end"), specifically, Adam's. Only this time God's plan was perfectly adhered to. (Side note: I originally used "cloven to," as in cleaved unto, clung to, stuck to, conformed to. I.e., Jesus did it.) Rather than trying to achieve God’s purpose on His own, the job was entrusted to the Holy Spirit. Adam lived by the sweat of his brow, but Christ rested in God. For disobedience there was now obedience; for weakness, strength. Sorely tempted and tried, Christ was victorious (and if He, then we also). By His crucifixion He killed sin, by resurrection He deprived Death its power, and by His ascension He may now vivify man. Whereas Satan had bound man, he himself is now bound.

In the perspective of God, Christ was the last Adam, Creation’s completion. Yet He is the Second Man, the birth of a new race, an incarnation race. No wonder Satan rages against “Christ come in the flesh.” I must stress, as does Irenaeus, the continuity of the Old Testament Creation and the New Testament Redemption. The same God who made man now offers him salvation. As the Word which God addresses to man and the man who is obedient to the Word (footnote: In this dynamic concept of union between divinity and humanity Irenaeus sidestepped the Christological controversy which soon followed), Christ joins the beginning with the end and is Lord over both covenants.

The Church is the body of Christ. It is in the Church that Christ recapitulates us, i.e., it is the redeemed of the Church who have been restored to growth. Christ is effecting His victory on the cross in His body by the work of the Holy Spirit. We have resumed growing, and human growth is through conflict and ethical struggle. There is no truce with Satan. He actually can upset God’s plans, but God uses his attempts to shape man. As the Body of Christ the Church has rule over Satan, just as the Head does. Christ rules out of Zion — the Church.

The advance of recapitulation in creation is through baptism and the eucharist. In baptism we follow Christ in His death as the last Adam and His rising as the Second Man. It is our seal of eternal life and rebirth unto God. In the eucharist the new life is continued and nourished by being united to Him and sharing His life and blood. It is a real encounter with the Lord through means of the creation, the bread and the wine.

The end of recapitulation is humanity’s attaining maturity in the Image. We become like God. It isn’t something we achieve, it is the free gift of God which He accomplishes by quickening His energies to man. Presented to the Father by Christ, the Father confers incorruptibility to the bearers of the Spirit. Retaining full human identity, man, having partaken of the divine nature on earth, is glorified in the heavenly kingdom by communion with God. The completion of recapitulation is, I pray, close at hand.

Here are the relevant passages from Victor Alexander's translation from the ancient Aramaic:

Romans 5:
17. For if because of the foolishness of one person, death was passed on [to all,] more over then that they should receive much grace and endowment and righteousness, that they would pass to eternal life through only one person, Jesus Christ.
18. In similar manner thus, because of the foolishness of one person, all humanity was under obligation, likewise because of the righteousness of one person, there will be victory with respect to eternal life for all humanity.
19. For whereas because of one person's heedlessness many sins occurred, likewise also because of the adherence of one, many would become righteous.

1 Corinthians 15:
45. Likewise it is written [in Scriptures,] "Adam was the first human being to draw the breath of life, and the last Adam is the life giving spirit."
46. Except [that breath] was not beforehand of the spirit, except of the soul, and thereafter of the spirit.
47. The first human being was soil from the earth; the second human being was the Lord from heaven.
48. He that was of soil was to those that were also from soil, just as He that was from heaven was to those who were from heaven.*
49. And as we bore the likeness of the one from the soil, likewise we shall bear the likeness of the One from heaven (Lit Ar. idiomatic construction: 'Whereas he was of the soil, also like the others from the soil; and whereas he that was of the heaven, also like the others heavenly').

A Fascinating Consideration on the Name "YHWH"

I searched "Can I say 'I am' in Hebrew?" Got linked to I Am that I Am on Wikipedia. Found something both fascinating and enlightening.

Confirmed that you cannot actually say, "I AM" in Hebrew. Said the article, "...there is no present tense of the verb "to be" in the Hebrew language...to say 'I am a sailor' in Hebrew would be Ani Malakh (literally in English is 'I sailor')."

Then, under the heading, "Scholarly explanation," it said:

In her Open Yale Course, Lecture 7, Chapter 5 ("Descriptions of God ['Elohiym] in the Bible"), professor Christine Hayes considers the possibilities and is tempted to read "Ehyeh asher ehyeh" as God's ['Elohiym] reluctance to tell Moses his name, paraphrasing: "...'Who am I? I am who I am, and never you mind.' The word possibly was 'Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh Asher' meaning 'I am That I am That.' Moses in his ecstasy and bliss wanted to share this state with the people of Israel and so it was a need to give a name to this experience, to this state, hence he gave a name to 'That' and 'Ehyeh' became 'Yahweh.' The seed of duality, the Creator being different from the Creation was sown, the Creator received a name 'Yahweh,' so a form, dimensions and time of Creation were naturally subsequent.'

Ah! The creation of dualism. Purely a misunderstanding. Maybe. What I placed in bold above are two hints that there is no name in "YHWH."

Then, in "Why did God call Himself, 'I AM THAT I AM'?" Mr. Chicago said, "God wanted to assure Moses and Israel that God would become what they would need Him to become. In using the words 'I AM THAT I AM,' God used an expression to reveal to Moses a promise and pledge found in His name."

Note the idea that God would become -- phenomenally -- whatever Israel needed Him to become. In that article was a link to “I Will Be What I Will Be,” Beauties of the Truth, Volume 17 Number 2 May 2006. I went there and found a wonderful note about Exodus 3:14 at the bottom of page 86: "Hayah (the word rendered above 'become') does not mean 'to be' essentially or ontologically, but phenomenally. He will be whatever we need Him to be: "helper, strengthener, deliverer." (I think this fits in well with Moses’ underlying question of Jethro, God’s Excellence. Whereas Ahiyeh in the Aramaic Ahiyeh Ashur hiyeh is first person, hiyeh is third: “I become ... his becoming.”)

My point is that God did NOT say, "I AM THAT I AM." That wasn't even a possibility. Yes, He is the Super Whoop-de-doo Who Is, but His point was that the Super Whoop-de-doo Who Is will become phenomenally whatsoever He pleases.

An idle thought of mine inspired by the first paragraph of Chapter IV of the Introduction: If Y, yod, is the initial of the Divine Name, then:
Y = I,  H = AM,  W = That,  H = AM. Unnamed, but IS.

And yes, I am aware (belatedly) that Chicago Bible Students are related to Charles Taze Russell and Judge Rutherford (Jehovah’s Witnesses.).

Ignorance: the Idea of Separation, not Knowing that God, the Consciousness of the Ineffable, is Our Source and Ourselves

Having converted to a seriously Christian worldview, I knelt with some Pentecostal ministers to receive the gift of tongues. To that end, I gave myself to God every way I could. Nothing. God wouldn't touch me with a ten-foot pole. Much troubled by this rejection, in my mind I desperately sought how to resolve the problem and gain acceptance. My eyes were closed. I entered a trance. I did not want the trance; it wasn't something I did, but there I was.

The upshot of the trance was that I had lived all of my life in ignorance of God being my source. Because of my ignorance, I had not done what was right. I was not right. I thought my life was my life. I had ruled everything about my life. I had been my “god.” Even though I did believe in God, I believed that He and I were separate. THAT, right there, was my condemnation. Believing a divided existence between God and myself was blaspheme, the unforgivable sin. If you don't believe me, ask Eve.

Ixnay on the double bubble of Deity and Creation. The whole of everything is one whole: the Ineffable, consciousness, and matter -- we are all one.

From whence the ignorance, then? I believe ignorance was inherent in the Ineffable's own development. It did not start out knowing everything even though it was everything. How to get rid of Its own ignorance? What was not right in knowledge, i.e., that of God which was NOT like the Ineffable, would need to experience what would MAKE it right. That would entail at least the ignorant part of God entering this sphere of existence, the pure state of ignorance-by-amnesia the Bible calls death, to be generated into Its likeness.

When? Where? How? As the Beginning in Genesis 1:1. That was the Son of God, the consciousness of the Ineffable, becoming the mind of man . . . at the beginning, as “the Beginning.” THAT was when Jesus Christ, YHWH, the ACTION of God, was crucified on the "tree," i.e., the matter our bodies are made of. The two MODES became one. That part of God bowed to and submitted Itself in faith to the faithfulness of the Father. THAT event is what was memorialized by "Jesus Christ" at the end of the Season of Grace two thousand years ago. The original event at the beginning of time was INTERPRETED for us.

"I have found a ransom, redemption's price" (Job 33:24): submitting to God as the original Jesus Christ did is the key to salvation.
