Stop Misreading the Bible: Everything is Past
I excel at learning really, really, slowly. Born in amnesia and raised in this ignorant world, I (mis)read according to what I know from this experience. It ain't much, and it sure interferes with the proper understanding of the Bible. We read the first word in Genesis 1:1, B'reshit, "In the beginning," and assume it refers to a point of time; i.e., the beginning of time. It does not. It has to do with the fixing of a destiny. The Beginning is a thing (an action, really), properly capitalized (think of a containment with everything that could possibly exist already inside, or the initiation of a process wherein everything that is going to happen is already mapped out).
I was blessed with Rabbi David A. Cooper's God is a Verb: Kabbalah and the Practice of Mystical Judaism explanation (page 66), that the English Genesis 1:1 is mistranslated from the Hebrew. It could say, "With a beginning, (It) created God (Elohim), the heavens and the earth" [(It) referring to the Ineffable or Ein Sof, the Endlessness]. God in plural form - acting members - were created in this Beginning. Everything that could ever possibly happen was already THERE in potential in the Beginning. Victor N. Alexander has it (from the ancient Aramaic): "AS THE BEGINNING (emphasis mine), the Son of God creates the heavens and the earth" (the Son of God is implied in the Hebrew B'reshit and the Aramaic Brasheeth). Again: "As the Beginning . . . the Son of God . . ." The Zohar has it: "By means of a Beginning (it) created Elohim" (emphasis and capitalization mine) (Cooper page 310, #83). In the Beginning FORM was the intended ongoing END the Beginning was destined to become, the Milta (Aramaic), the Manifestation of the Most High!!
The Beginning was and is God the Son: the consciousness, the intelligence, the imagination of the Ineffable determined to be the Manifestation of Its being. WE ARE IN ITS MIX.
What clicked for me was that in this Beginning, God (the Ineffable) created (within Its imagination) EVERYTHING in the PAST. There is a beginning and end to the process, but it has everything it needs to run the process to its conclusion. It is proposed that all will become manifest along the way to the End, but it first has to have existed in the Beginning. There in the Most High's Beginning of manifestation was everything that would become Its final Manifestation. It isn't a Beginning plus something else. No spare parts. There was and is ONLY the Beginning. EVERYTHING comes from that, and it all comes from the PAST. The Beginning is Jesus; i.e., it conforms to the PRINCIPLE of the Ineffable's love, mercy and grace and is the action of the Ineffable moving us toward conformance with Its nature. Every potential for our future is there in that PAST.
We do not like all the things in our present which have come from the past. We want something different in our future, and heaven help us if we pray for it to come in the future. For then it will always be coming. We need tonight to pray for what was today, that it was better, that we HAVE what we wanted FROM the past. I think of the woman in Neville Goddard's The Law and the Promise, page 19, who had a bad back from a childhood injury. She had jumped from a swing and landed poorly. She sought treatments which promised health in the future, but it wasn't until she went back to that swing in her mind and attained presence in the past and could jump and land properly over and over and over that she found healing. She supplanted the imagining of the past with a new imagining. And she was healed. Remember also Neville's first experience with assumption: Abdullah said, "You are IN Barbados, and you went first class!"
I and many others have brought our past to God for reimagining. We didn't think of it that way, but that is what we did. The past is always moving. We call it time. Every possible alternative to our past has already been imagined. I hear that quantum jumpers (or whatever they call themselves) know that all the alternatives EXIST. We can opt for alternative pasts. They were all in and of the Beginning and are destined for the Grand Conclusion. What would it be like if you had had the past you desire? We have hunger for something which would be if we had had that past. Imagine you did. In the way the Bible and Neville instruct, by assumption -- the revision of the PAST. Fix and pray for EARLIER, not later; thanksgiving that IN THE BEGINNING WE RECEIVED GOD'S DESIRE FOR US. If the potential for an alternative to what we have was there, we can have it now for the asking. Says the Beginning, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly," and "Lo, I am with you always."
