The Flames Of Glory

According to Victor Alexander, the Hebrew word for God, elohim, means "over the flames." Simply that - "over the flames." My question is, what are the flames "It" is over?

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would have spoken Ashurit, the language of Assyria. In the northern fertile crescent this language evolved into Aramaic, and among the Jews into Hebrew. The Assyrian god of creation in this proto-language was Ashur. Ashur also means "over the flames." Ashur was first depicted in pictograph form. The pictograph is a man standing in a circle, with what looks like the wings and tail of a bird extending outward from the circle. A photo of the pictograph is on the cover of Alexander's translation of the Book of Genesis.

The circle is the sun disc. The sun disc was the unconsumable flaming "bush" Moses saw. The man in the disc is the Son of God, who has power and authority to do the work of God giving life. The wing-and-tail-forms extending from the disc are actually rows of flames--the flames of glory. All of these together are one thing: God. God is "The Manifestation of the Life-giving Power and Authority Over the Flames."

I am quoting myself there. Again, what are the flames? I do not think they are just the flames of the sun, though they could be. Are they the stars of the universe which God is also over? Are they the "spark" of the Divine Holy Ghost within each of us? While I was trying to finish the transcriptions in Neville Goddard's Final Lectures, which transcription must be finish by the reader carefully listening to the audio recordings, I came up with another idea: could these flames of Glory be the Manifestation of God's holy, life-giving work: the fires of affliction? These are the flames of Glory, the "flames" of God Himself. Who gets to His state without suffering? Getting there is, and must be, "with persecutions." "To this purpose I was called," said Jesus. "Unto this I was destined" (your Bible has, "Why have you forsaken me?).

"Awk! The flames of Glory the fires of affliction? Heresy!!" you shout.

God is OVER the flames of affliction. They are from and of Him--part and parcel, as we are. They are His work generating Himself - Life - in us.

Take it to heart: He is OVER them!! God is "Over the Flames." When they come, remember we are One With Him. Rejoice!

But no, I am pretty sure the flames of Glory God is over is us. God the Father, God the Son, by God the Holy Spirit—the Word picture of Over the Flames, Elohim, includes us.

PS: In the ancient days words were pictures; alphabetic writing for words came later. The pictograph Ashur was a word which was 'God'. "In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." It is my opinion that the "Beginning" in Genesis 1:1 was an Item, the Son of God--Ashur, not a time: "With (or as) the Beginning, the Son of God creates the heavens and the earth."
