Mark 5:39 -- Abdullah and Jesus
It makes a great impression, Abdullah saying to Neville when Neville expressed a great desire to visit his family in Barbados, "You are in Barbados" (see "God's Law and His Promise," at 15:00). I finally heard Jesus saying the same to those mourning the death of Jairus' daughter, "The little sleeping girl is not dead except sleeping" (Mark 5:39 Alexander). This was Jesus' "You are in Barbados." She was sleeping as much as Neville was in Barbados. But Jesus had told the synagogue leader, "Just believe." Believe that she is "except sleeping," in spite of all evidence of her being dead. He put them all outside, then, "Little girl, arise." And then, "Get her something to eat."
Suddenly, the Bible is full of Abdullah's "You are in Barbados": "Go, the son is alive" (John 4:50 Alexander). "The demon has left your daughter" (Mark 7:29 Alexander). Etc.
