Note on Devotion, #2

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP MISREADING THE BIBLE. It is not literal history but apocalyptic (exaggerated, extreme-itized end) illustration. YHWH is said to have charged Israel to slaughter the men, women, children, and animals of its enemies, to burn everything of their enemies with fire - to utterly destroy and obliviate everything about them. Read the archaeological reports: it never happened.

Because the enemies were not people but ideas - the thoughts, habits, attitudes, and influences of ignorance in us, in our minds. God is simply charging us to DEVOTION to him. We have to eliminate Ignorance's stupidity IN ALL ITS FORMS totally from our lives to be devoted to God's love. Hey, the women and kids have been all right all this time! YHWH is not such a bad god after all.
