For Jeff: Three

"What you heard was your own thoughts, memories and imaginations at work and possibly the evil one himself. God has no need of speaking to us directly except thru his word. Your imagination or conscience has lead you to a point of idolatry, self-indulgence, self-righteousness. You are being deceived by the evil one as described in old Aramaic."

I really, really think you had better read that part about blaspheming the Holy Spirit in Mark 3: 30 again, Jeff. The Holy Spirit is doing great things, and you say she is the evil one. Do you really want to do that? I wonder what you mean by "the evil one as described in old Aramaic." What old Aramaic description? Have you ever wondered why there is so much about Satan in the New Testament and almost nothing about him in the Old? Mostly Job and Zechariah. You would think that the Jews would have been alluding to his work and warning against it to their own people at every turn. But instead there is almost nothing.

The reason there is so little about Satan in the Old Testament is that he, the adversary, is our ignorance. That is what the Old Testament is designed to defeat, and the people of that age understood that: that 'Satan' is our ignorance. Why harp about some being that isn't there? I know well about the Serpent in Genesis. The Serpent was the ancient representative of Wisdom. We are in Genesis dealing with representative symbols. Moses learned things in Exodus and wrote about them in Genesis. Adam and Eve represent God's consciousness and its power to become what it believes itself to be. In becoming man's consciousness, the spirit that imbues man with Life, God's consciousness (us!), has to enter into an amnesia as to its Godhood. It has to really think that it is just a man in all his or her ignorance. That transition into ignorance is the door consciousness/imagination/the spirit that we are has to go through to get on the road to becoming even more like the Ineffable Most High -- to correct the defect inherent in us. Before the transition, the Glorious Wisdom of God (look up the word 'serpent'; it means a shining and glorious one) in our consciousness says, "This is worthwhile," and as we enter into the amnesia of human consciousness, IT COMES WITH US. "On your belly you shall go!" Wisdom prods us toward God, and we in our ignorance resist it, thus blaspheming the Holy Spirit within us.

I am not saying that there are not hoards of demons running around, but if there are, they are the manifestations of our ignorance. Ever notice how when you cast a demon out of a person the effect is that they believe clearly? The reason there so much about Satan in the New Testament is influence from Persian Zoroastrianism's Azure Mazda. Misunderstanding their own edited and corrupted scriptures, many Jews became dualists believing God to be separate and divided from us, and themselves as subject to the God of Evil as the God of Good. But the Serpent of Old who deceiveth the whole world IS OUR AMNESIA BORN, SELF-INFLICTED IGNORANCE. Fight to defeat it in yourself by believing the effectual blood of Jesus shed abroad for us. 'Blood' means real and actual present power. Hence the "wine" at the wedding at Cana from the water of purification. 'Believing' means doing, Jeff. Practice doing.
