The Story of Jesus From His Own Words: The Meaning of The Gospel From The Ancient Aramaic Language He Used (and It WAS Ancient Aramaic!)
Victor Alexander has started an Indiegogo.com campaign to raise funds for a his movie by selling a new book he is still writing. I do not particularly like Alexander delving into projects other than translation of the scriptures, but maybe it is time for him to lay out for others the principles of his translation and his method. The thing that will make the book invaluable will be the background weight and cultural implications of the words used by the Gospel writers. I don't know, but Victor may bring in a lot of Old Testament references, too. He is the one person who knows the relation of the New to the Old in the ancient Aramaic thought.
When you consider that the Bible we all grew up with and studied in seminary and have preached for years, the Bible that is (or at least was) the written basis of our faith ISN'T EVEN THE REAL BIBLE AFTER ALL, the insights Victor Alexander has to offer from the words Jesus used in the ancient Aramaic will certainly be worth it. I am sure it is going to be a revelation.
It is a fifty dollar bet (the minimum donation for the book) that what Alexander has learned over the last twenty-five years of concentrated effort to translate the ancient Aramaic scriptures will help straighten out our understanding of what the authentic biblical text actually means and will strengthen our grasp on what it is that God is actually doing. There is not much else in life that I want. We are all coming from a place of great inadequacy of such understanding and grasp. Well, at least I know that I am. I am spending too much of my life on waste, while I know that everything must be an investment in God. But an investment in what of God, and how? Let's read Alexander's book and find out!
How can even a single clear concept of God not be worth fifty dollars? We ought to be supporting Victor just because of the work he is doing for us. If we read and believe the ancient Aramaic scriptures the way the ancient Aramaic church did, then we are a part of that body of believers. The Church is eternal, timeless. The mind that perceives the Truth of the Church is joined to it. And one guy, just one, is translating its sacred text to us. Come on, guys (and gals), let's pony up some cash to support Alexander's making of the movie that will explain all this stuff to the whole world.
