Adam's Rib, Genesis 2: 21, Might Be Purpose Rather Than Desire

I have understood Adam's becoming Eve through a rib to represent the power of focused, intensely vivid and keenly felt DESIRE in our imagination. Desire, properly focused and submitted to God's life within us, our imagination, has the power to cause, to create, to expand life.

While I recognize this is true, I am not satisfied with the materialistic aspect of 'desire' as a definition. 'Rib' has to do with panel, like a panel in the construction of a wall, and we are "living stones" in the house being built by God. Perhaps it would be better to conceptualize the rib as our PURPOSE. Desire is inherent in purpose, as is the Power to bring to life (Eve), Acquisition (Cain) and Transitoriness (Abel). Our succession of purposes in life are the panels that make up the Lord's house?
