Ezekiel 16:4-6: Three Alternative Views on The Power of the Blood of Jesus Christ

If you are a Christian, you probably have several books that deal with the blood of Jesus Christ. For the blood of Jesus Christ is central to God's becoming, which is what is happening in the universe. But when the Bible talks about the shed blood of Jesus, it is talking about his violent death, NOT the blood itself.

I have a book which discourses on the shed blood of Jesus, The Blood Speaks. Its point of departure is Ezekiel l6:6, "And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live" (KJV). In this, the city of Jerusalem is likened to an uncared-for, unwashed newborn infant polluted by its still-attached afterbirth. The premise of the book is that every human's blood is polluted from Adam's sin, and that the divinely-fathered pure blood of Jesus Christ provides the believer a covering for deliverance from attacks of Satan.

No, I am not kidding.

That is one view, that Jesus' pure, undefiled-by-sin liquid blood was presented to God in heaven, and that it, when pled, has magical power to deliver our sin-polluted blood from attack: "One drop of His blood is enough to bind all the devils in hell! We're covered" (p. 80). Overlooked is the fact that it was the unwashed child who was polluted, not the blood.

A second view is that normal, human lives, like the city of Jerusalem, are founded on spiritually polluting principles. The Jebusite city of Jerusalem was founded upon blood -- Canaanite human sacrifices -- and a like fallen nature continues in us until we are told of God, "Live!" This is actually applicable in the context of the passage this verse is from. Jerusalem did live for awhile, but then backslid badly (hence its destruction and their captivity).

The third view on the power of the blood of Jesus Christ has nothing to do with this. The term "shed blood" in the bible means violent death. It does not refer to the blood at all, except that the person whose blood was shed DIED. Completely. Finis. Kaput. Pao. Except, perhaps, that it keeps going on -- "with persecutions." But we get through any and all persecutions by being in Christ's already completed and satisfactory death which made us 100% acceptable to God: "And I was crucified with Christ, and henceforth it is not I who lives, except it is Christ who lives through me. And this [life] that I now live in the flesh, I live it through the faith in that Son of God, He who loved me and gave himself on my behalf" (Galatians 2:20 Alexander).

It is not the power of the blood; it is the power of the DEATH Jesus suffered for us. THAT is what SAVED us.

In my view, the Ineffable intended to become manifest. Its consciousness is a field-like force which is conscious and aware of Its being. The Ineffable's consciousness determined what Its full and complete end manifestation would be. That PLANNED and IMAGINED End-Manifestation was the Beginning in Genesis 1:1. The Ineffable together with this Manifestation said, "Let Us make man in Our image." Please get the structure here: the planned End as the Beginning initiated the course to its own completion: "Her seed (Me) will crush your head." The Spirit of YHWH anointed upon Jesus at the end of the Season of Grace was that crushing. That completion is ongoing as Jesus Christ forms his church, a bush/sun disc whose flame does not extinguish.

Central to my personal view is the initial fall -- violent death -- of the Beginning from being Deity into being the flesh of the universe. This was the first, the original crucifixion: the violent death God suffered in sacrifice for the beautiful world It envisioned and loved before the overthrow of the universe. It gave up Its first estate to become US!! "For this is how [much] God loved humanity, that he gave forth his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him does not go to oblivion, except that they may have life everlasting" (John 3:16 Alexander). By believing the Manifestation's VIOLENT DEATH FOR US, that it was full and complete, we join the End. Yes, the Blood was and is precious, BECAUSE HE, THE MANIFESTATION, SHED IT IN HIS LOVE FOR US.

That is the vibe I want! And it is always in us, available to us. Believe it is APPLIED.
