Heading For Healing 23: The Walking Church

In the first century BC, near the end of the Season of Grace, many Jews withdrew into the Jordan valley to prepare themselves for the coming of the Messiah. They gathered in various schools. John the Baptist, Jesus of Nazareth, and their disciples were undoubtedly among these. Having received the Anointing (Awakening?) of YHWH, Jesus was the church in the early first century AD. He was a walking church. It is extremely interesting to me that He kept walking. "The Son of Man has no place to rest his head" (Matthew 8:20 Alexander). I.e., being the walking church does not stop.

There is a really weird focus in the present church on procurement. Yes, the first century group had a purse, and people supported the group with donations TO KEEP THE CHURCH WALKING, but there was no emphasis, let alone acceptance, of procurement. Some even tried to fake it and procure on the side, and were slain BY GOD for it. Apparently, He is not interested in acquisition for our prosperity’s sake. I hear a lot of screwy teaching about receiving. Biblically, that should be passing.

Also interesting are the people who, learning that they are about to die for some defect or disease and can do nothing about it, start walking -- preaching, praying, praising, etc.. And they just keep walking long after the defect or disease is a distant memory. Dear Lord, let us find our feet.
