The Topic Is Resurrection: Life Is Opportunity For Its Process

Resurrection is what we are born to. We really do not have much say in the matter, for God is DOING it, come hell or high water (literal truth!). We are here to resurrect, to attain to the godhood we left. You may have heard that life is just the process of dying. It is not. Life is the process of becoming alive more in the likeness of God than we were before the Beginning.

Resurrection is not an event; it is a process that transpires over the course of our lives. We are in the process now, and have been in every restoration. Some people are coming to the end of this part of the procedure. Their interest is not in the obtaining of things no matter how pleasant, but in spiritual advancement. For them (as for all of us), this life is an opportunity to resurrect. The key ingredients in the recipe are honor and love.

I have in this room a banner of Chinese calligraphy - the traditional character ài, Love, and text from First Corinthians 13. I particularly like this explanation of the character ài:

Etymology: In traditional Chinese, people write this character as "愛 (ài)." Now it is simplified to "爱 (ài)." The parts of "爫" and"夂" both mean actions. "心 (xīn)" means heart. So the Chinese character "爱" or "愛" means to love people through your actions and with your heart.

"To love people through your actions and with your heart." For those people--all people--are God's manifestation. Life is just an opportunity to honor and love God, and we should never miss a beat. That might just be the one tattoo I would get: Opportunity. "Love" is a nice, inspirational sign. "Opportunity" would be better. "Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed" (2 Kings 13:18). And Elisha became angry with Joash, because the arrows were prophetically opportunities to throw off darkness by the Light of Life--the Holy Ghost. "I'll take just three opportunities." "There will be a lot more!" Take all the opportunities you can.

Saving up your money for a rainy day
Givin' all your clothes to charity
Last night the wife said, "Oh boy, when you're dead
You don't take nothing with you but your soul
Think!"
- Ballad of John and Yoko

I have missed a LOT of opportunities in my life. I hope to miss less.
