The Revelation of Poo
My sisters and I are getting older. I found myself cleaning corrals and shoveling cat, dog, and horse poo, and making dump runs for carloads of old, bagged cat litter. The poo had all been hard-earned cash at one time. Now it was waste. That was its return on investment, or rather lack of investment.
Neville Goddard (in the lecture Sound Investments) said his wife Bill (Catherine Willa) awoke to hear God's Voice speaking to her, saying very loud and clearly, "You must stop spending your thoughts, your time, and your money. Everything in life must be an investment."
I remembered my youthful experience smoking cigarettes. I saw that I was taking my hard-earned dollars and burning them to ashes at the cost of my health. I saw my work turned to ashes and never took another puff.
Money from hard work turned into pooh: we had to work hard to earn the money, buy the food, feed the animals, collect the poo, dump it into the trash, and still pay someone else to haul it away! This is spending.
I saw an image of our lives. The poo return on investment is our lives - our reaction to the input to our minds, that is. Reaction/emotion becomes the real stuff, the manifestation of our lives. Seriously. We take thought of the world, or we seek first the Kingdom of God. Take a step back and look at your thoughts and your life. Your life NOW was your thoughts back THEN. You might not have thought it exactly, but accepted it as a possibility. THAT was your faith. Do not spend (waste) your thoughts on the unwanted stuff of the present that will become as poo to be hauled off. Instead think love and grace and life and success and happiness - the way you think God would have it.
What God thinks, He is. His assumption is His investment. Our own, wonderful, human imagination is God. Our thoughts manifest because we are He. Our present thoughts are life becoming manifest. Because what we believe...what we assume to be real...is what we are. Believe you are what you want to be and be satisfied that you are that. Are, not going-to-become. Mentally be it, and it will manifest.
This is sage advice from God, who ought to know. Life is either invest rather than spend, or spend rather than invest. The end of investing is much better than the end of spending. This principle manifests in material, experiential corollaries: studying is better than watching the boob tube, industry is better than sloth, becoming able is better than becoming unable. Invest in able. Take opportunity to prepare. Attack getting things done. Do them. Of course, Neville spoke of imagining, thought. Self-control of thought - reacting to the nature of God - is better than reacting to the world.
"Detachment from negative states and assumption of the wish fulfilled must be practiced in the midst of all the blessings and cursing of life,” he said. Imagine good in the midst of bad. Control your imagination.
