Bible Correction: John 15:13 -- In Greek It Is "Friends"; In Aramaic, It Is The Wife's RELATIVES, One's "In-laws"

John 15:13-14 reads like this in Victor Alexander's translation from the ancient Aramaic:

13. "There is no greater love than this, That a person* (human being) sacrifices* (consecrates) himself for his kinsmen*.
14. "You are my relatives* (family of the bride), if you do everything I tell* (order) you.

Alexander's footnote on John 15:13, kinsmen:

Lit. Ar. id.: Or, "relatives," especially, in-law family members [not immediate relatives of the bride, but of her extended family members acquired through marriage, often from another village.] The (ancient Aramaic) word is very specific in old Biblical land traditions; however, here it is used to indicate new relatives.

Edit 10/03/2025 -- This reminds me of Alexander's news about mammon in Matthew 6:24. Mammon isn't money; it's our uncles. We cannot work for God AND work for our uncles. We've got to choose between God and the family business. Which is more important?
