Mark 1:1-3, 14-15 The Greek Word Euaggelion Means THE REWARD THE RECEIVERS OF A MESSAGE GIVE THE MESSENGER WHO DELIVERS THE MESSAGE TO THEM--John The Baptist Was An Old Testament Prophecy, The Destiny Of The New Testament Messenger

The first "Gospel" written:

1. He Reveals the Anointed Life-giver, Son of God.
2. As it was written by Isaiah the Prophet, that, "Behold, I SHALL SEND MY MESSENGER BEFORE YOUR FACE, to lay out your path.
3. "The voice that cries in the wilderness, 'Consecrate the path of the Lord, and lay down his avenues.' "

14. After John was betrayed, Jesus came to Galilee, and preached the Hope of the Kingdom of God,
15. And he said, "The Age has ended,* and the Kingdom of God has arrived. Repent and BELIEVE IN THE HOPE [OF SALVATION]" (Alexander).

JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS AN IMAGIC PROPHECY TO JESUS; imaging what would happen to him as the Messenger of God.

The "Hope" is the Greek word euaggelion. We translate it "Gospel," as in 'good news,' and 'glad tidings,' but what it meant to Greek speakers was the REWARD the receivers of glad tidings GAVE to the messenger who BROUGHT them the tidings. What is our hope of the Kingdom of God, of our salvation? It is the SURRENDERING OF OUR LIVES, OF OUR GIVING UP OF OUR WILL ENTIRELY TO GOD. The reward given to the Milta (Miltha), who is the messenger, is his getting to then forgive us and make us into him.

This prophecy is the beginning of Mark, and is at its ending as well. In Mark 15:34 Jesus cries out to God in a loud voice, "To this I was destined" (Alexander), for John the Baptist's imagic prophecy was coming true. JESUS WAS CLAIMING IT!

You give Jesus, the fulfilling Messenger of God, YOURSELF IN HUMBLE, COMPLETE SURRENDER TO HIS LORDSHIP. THAT'S our only Hope of Salvation.
